A Poem of Innocence Lost

The Poem:
This is so surreal
I am herded with others
By beings speaking unintelligible prose
My belongings are stripped from me
I am now only a naked babe
The mystic portal accepts me
“Please don’t pick me ...
I am not the earth specimen you seek”
The sing song prose continues
The Jedi mind trick doesn’t work
Mystic portals are fickle in their criteria
Drones manipulate my naked flesh for examination
“This can’t be happening” as the anal probe inserts
My fleeting thought is only of the beings clothing
What is meant by those symbols “TSA”?
The Muse:
Did you ever just have one of those days where you think you are no longer on planet earth? I have traveled a lot over my years working in engineering and the insanity of airport security has always frustrated my structured mind. After 9/11/2001 the insanity went to a whole different level. One day I had a particularly frustrating set of meetings, a white-knuckle drive to the airport through Washington DC traffic, and an interlude with a "customer service" automaton that was unsatisfying. Everything settled, I head to my gate and encounter the dreaded security line. I watched each sheep proceed through the portal and I was reminded of the Tom Cruise movie War of the Worlds when the walkers would grab humans at random and suck out their essence. Naturally on this most trying day, I got selected for "additional screening". I always feel violated after these invasive searches. Something of mine got confiscated and I had the nerve to question it. The genius from airport security had the nerve to tell me "we don't make the rules". I try to have a poker face, but I am sure the incredulity came forth as I stated "... well, yes you do". So, I started penning a poem that spoke to freedoms lost and its relation to being abducted by aliens. Enjoy!
