My first attempt at a Shakespearean Sonnet

The Poem:
Can one describe the voltage of a kiss
Mere mingling of skin carries such power
Transporting soulmates away to great bliss
Each moment spent kissing feels as an hour
Guttural utterings flow from her lips
As skin is touched by tongues of fire
Awareness invades she’s in passion’s grips
Chaste maidenhood conflicting body desires
Heat from fleshly graze could the ocean boil
Neck shoulders dips and hips feel the sear
In her mind clashing sweaty thoughts do toil
With fight or whimper succumb Cupid’s spear
Soprano notes singing kiss’ power
Lustful her embrace of yielded flower
The Muse:
I am of course going to speak sacrilege for writers worldwide when I say there is much of William Shakespeare's work I don't find particularly pleasing. When I started to dabble in poetry I wanted to give a try in several different poetic styles. So I tried the Sonnet and my respect for the Bard increased immensely. The rhyming scheme can be a bear to master with any coherency. I read a number of his sonnets and was amazed at his mastery. Not only could he tell a story within the structure, he could be allegorical as well. I bow to the king.
I decided to write about what is one of my favorite pastimes - kissing. It is an art I try to master with diligent and thorough practice. Just the emotions a good kiss can evoke makes one's spine tingle. I want to achieve the same mastery of kissing that Shakespeare did with writing. Read the sonnet and see if it recalls any intense memories of a good kiss for you. I bet it does!
